Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This occasion offered a chance for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
