Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
